Racism: A Word or A Cult

The topic of this article is something which was considered to be not much less of a problem back in the day, but now, at present, we see it become more than just a word or a phrase. We now see that it has become a cult, with a large following among different societies in the world. I, Ali Hamid, will be performing an analysis on what according to me is a plague that has spread and corrupted mankind.

Racism is what certain people call (and trust me this is what I had read), “The ability to distinguish between the people of the world in terms of caste, religion, colour and gender by ridiculing their lifestyle.” Yes, these were the words I read. And let me tell you, although I do not support or even like to talk about such issues (and I tend to avoid), this just straight up insults humanity in the face.

Firstly, I do not whatsoever believe that just because a man screams out a word against all religions and promotes his own religion as the best, does not mean the people who follow this religion think or believe the same ideology. Now, for example, let us take the example of the London Terror Attack some time ago, where a man drove over 20+ pedestrians and even entering the Parliament grounds, stabbing and killing a guard. Now attacks like these do justify what the people behind the attacks think but it does not say: that all people of the religion think the same way.

Now, don’t get me started on colour, which is becoming a rising issue when it comes especially to colour and gender. In colour, the most discriminated are blacks. People of colour in America are either shot down due to the person shooting thinks that he is a criminal, just recently we were witness to the murder of an Indian engineer, Srinivas Kuchibhotla, 32, was shot dead in a bar in Kansas last month. Walking along the porch to get something from the mailbox? BAM, the guy is on the ground with the justification that he had a weapon in his hand when in reality it might an envelope containing a letter from his mother or a loved one who he probably won’t be seeing ever again.

Gender? It is no longer just male or female. It’s male, female, transgender,

homosexual, bi-sexual - the LGBTQ community. And the 3rd and 4th ones are the most who suffer, not only because of their image or the way they prefer the same sex, but because of their orientation and deviance from the ancestral set societal norms.

To conclude I say this, and from a personal point of view, racism is real and in the next few years it is going to become a cult following but much worse than now. I know people and have heard their stories, they hate the racism and want people to treat them as equals, as humans.

Don’t Spread, Go Prevent.
